Candidate for Mayor Disqualified

A Columbia mayoral candidate has been disqualified. Irwin Wilson was taken off the ballot for mayor because according to state law, a candidate must have completed a prison sentence or probation fifteen years prior to the date he or she runs for office. Wilson was convicted of criminal sexual conduct third degree in 1994. He completed his prison sentence in 1998. The Columbia city election commission is allowing another convicted felon, Antonio Williams, to run for city council. Williams, who was convicted of burglary and grand larceny third degree, finished out a prison sentence seventeen years ago. For more on the story, click on the video player below.
