Clemson Sends Ford to Raiders, Sapp to Philly
ALAMEDA, Calif. — tttThe Oakland Raiders have traded for an extra fourth-round pick to draft speedy wide receiver Jacoby Ford. The Raiders sent a fifth-round pick and linebacker Kirk Morrison to Jacksonville on Saturday to get the 108th overall pick to draft Ford. Morrison became expendable when Oakland drafted Rolando McClain in Thursday’s first round. Ford was the fastest receiver at the NFL combine, running the 40 in 4.28 seconds. He caught 56 passes for 779 yards and six touchdowns last season at Clemson. He also ran for two touchdowns and averaged 14.3 yards per punt return. The Raiders also drafted defensive lineman Lamarr Houston in the second round, offensive lineman Jared Veldheer in the third and offensive lineman Bruce Campbell earlier in the fourth. The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Clemson defensive end Ricky Sapp in the fifth round of the NFL draft. Sapp was chosen with the 134th overall pick on Saturday. Previously, the Eagles selected defensive end Brandon Graham in the first round, free safety Nate Allen in the second round and defensive end Daniel Te’o-Nesheim in the third round. //
