Swinney Ready For New Stars At Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is ready to talk

about the Tigers he’s got rather than the players he had a year

ago.

Clemson opens the season Saturday against North Texas minus

several stars who helped the Tigers reach their first ACC title

game.

Swinney thinks he’ll have a more balanced attack this season

that won’t rely as heavily on individual standouts like ACC player

of the year C.J. Spiller or record setting pass-catchers like

Jacoby Ford or tight end Michael Palmer.

Swinney says those players faced serious questions in previous

years before they showed their full abilities. He’s confident that

runners Andre Ellington and Jamie Harper, sophomore tight end

Dwayne Allen and a host of young receivers can equal or surpass

Clemson’s offensive production from last season.
