Cops: Sumter man killed during weekend carjacking

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say a Sumter County man has been shot to death during an apparent carjacking.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis told multiple media outlets Monday that 38-year-old Kelvin Charles Green was arrested and charged with murder in the death of 23-year-old Zavier Fernando Titus.

Investigators say Titus and another man were carjacked on a dirt road around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies found the SUV several miles away. Titus’ body was lying nearby. He had been shot several times. The other man was not hurt and called police.

Green was being held in the Sumter County jail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
