Lattimore Ready, Spurrier Wants USC To Finish
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina keeps creeping closer to a
first division title since joining the Southeastern Conference 18
years ago, but Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier isn’t ready to focus
on that yet.
If South Carolina beats Tennessee this weekend and a few other
things fall into place, including a Georgia win over Florida, the
Gamecocks could play for a spot in the SEC title game the next
week.
But Spurrier said Tuesday that South Carolina has been in good
shape before and seen things fall apart. The Gamecocks are 4-11 in
their final five regular season games the past three seasons.
Spurrier did have some good news for South Carolina fans. He
expects freshman running back Marcus Lattimore to be back in the
lineup Saturday after missing last week with a sprained ankle.
