No survivors in small plane crash in Aiken Co.
AIKEN, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say there appear to be no survivors after a small plane crashed in a driving rainstorm in Aiken County about two miles from an airport.
Aiken County Sheriff’s Captain Troy Elwell says the plane made no distress call before going down in woods near the Aiken Municipal Airport around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities haven’t confirmed how many people were on board the six-seat plane, but Elwell says there were no survivors.
Elwell says heavy rain restricted visibility to only a few hundred feet at the time of the crash.
Information from the Federal Aviation Administration indicated the Cessna 210 was flying from Beaufort to Aiken and was registered out of Maiden, North Carolina.
