Spurrier Suspends Garcia

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — For the third time in the last five years, USC quarterback Stephen Garcia is in Steve Spurrier’s doghouse during spring practice. After opening spring drills Tuesday, Spurrier announced he has suspended Garcia and back-up QB Andrew Clifford the first week of spring practice for a past violation of team rules. The Ball Coach did not elaborate on any further details.

According to multiple reports, the suspension is for an incident that occurred during USC’s Chick-fil-A bowl week. Garcia threw three first-half interceptions in the 26-17 loss to Florida St.

Garcia missed all but one practice during his first two springs at USC because of legal issues.

Last season as a junior, Garcia finished third in the SEC with 3,059 passing yards. He threw 20 touchdowns and a league-high 14 interceptions.
