SLED: Chapin woman charged in murder for hire plot

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Chapin woman has been arrested after she tried to hire a hitman to kill a former relative.

The State Law Enforcement Division said Tuesday that 59-year-old Linda Turner is charged with attempted murder and solicitation to commit a felony.

SLED agents say Turner met someone she thought was a hitman at a McDonald’s in Clinton last Friday, but turned out to be an undercover agent.

Authorities say Turner paid the agent an undisclosed amount of money and had photos and information on a former relative who lives out of state that she wanted killed.

Turner was released from jail on a $125,000 bond. A phone listing for her could not be found, and it wasn’t immediately clear if she had an attorney.
