Ellington Takes In USC Football Practice

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina basketball standout Bruce
Ellington wants to play football.
Ellington was in street clothes at the Gamecocks’ spring
practice Thursday and coach Steve Spurrier says the freshman told
him he wants to be a two-sport star.
Spurrier says Ellington can’t take the field until the summer
because NCAA rules require scholarship athletes to stick to one
sport during their first academic year.
Ellington helped Berkeley High School to a state title as a
running quarterback. Spurrier says Ellington will likely play on
offense, but it is too early to know where.
Ellington led the basketball team averaging 12.8 points and
three assists as he started every game at point guard. The
Gamecocks finished 14-16.
