Exports increase more than 23 percent in 2010
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The value of goods South Carolina exported in 2010 was up 23 percent from the previous year.
Gov. Nikki Haley, the state Commerce Department and the State Ports Authority announced Wednesday the state sold $20 billion worth of goods in 192 nations around the world.
The top three exports in terms of value were vehicles, machinery and rubber.
Canada surpassed Germany as the state’s largest export market. More than $3 billion worth of goods were exported to Canada while Germany bought just under $3 billion worth of South Carolina goods.
