Man Confesses To Killing Son,Great-Grandmother

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say the 21-year-old South Carolina man accused of killing his 9-month-old son and the boy’s great-grandmother was out on bond for domestic violence when the slayings occurred.

Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett said Thursday Justin Jeremiah Johnson was charged in December with aggravated criminal domestic violence involving the child’s mother, 21-year-old Kaisha Tiera Carraway.

Garrett said Jayden Carraway was killed Wednesday morning. Garrett says the child’s 59-year-old great-grandmother, Maxine Griggs Carraway, was shot and killed while trying to call for help.

The sheriff says Johnson confessed to the killings and was in the Clarendon County jail Thursday. He says Johnson is being charged with two counts of murder and hasn’t asked for an attorney.

Garrett says Johnson is also being charged with the attempted murder of Kaisha Carraway.
