Solar power station dedicated
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — What officials say is the largest solar-powered generating station in South Carolina has been dedicated.
The 311-kilowatt facility in Myrtle Beach was dedicated Monday by officials of Santee Cooper and the South Carolina Energy Office.
The power is generated by more than 1,300 solar panels located on the roofs of Santee Cooper buildings and an adjacent field.
Officials say the $1.3 million project increases solar power generation in South Carolina by 35 percent.
The project was paid for in part by a $475,000 federal grant provided by the 2009 economic recovery act.
