Gov Haley says she’s striking family balance

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says she’s striking the balance between being the state’s top elected official and a mom.

Haley finished her first 100 days in office Thursday.

The state’s first woman governor said life on the home front has been a mix of the normal things. That includes a funeral for a pet fish and “American Idol” nights.

Haley said in an interview that her daughter’s fish died and was buried on the Governor’s Mansion grounds as someone sang “I Wish I Was a Fish.”

Her son showed up at the Statehouse with his class from school and had a bloody nose from allergies.

Haley says if she can be a good mother and wife she can be great at everything.
