Sumter Dominates Title Series Opener

SUMTER, SC (WOLO) — Another Gamecock baseball team is one win away from a championship. Sumter blew out Byrnes 11-0 in five innings Monday night to take a commanding 1-0 lead in the class AAAA state championship series. Bruce Caldwell hit two home runs for Sumter. USC commit Jordan Montgomery shut down the Rebels on the mound. Byrnes will host game two of the series Wednesday night. The Rebels will have to win that game to force a deciding game three that would be played at a neutral site.
