Looking Ahead To Missouri

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — With this weekend’s upcoming match up with Missouri now in the forefront, we look at what the teams have done thus far through three games. South Carolina has a 3 and 0 record (1-0 in the SEC) and is currently ranked 7th in the AP poll. The Gamecocks have scored a total of 16 touchdowns while only allowing 2 TDs. Connor Shaw’s status is still unknown for this weekend but so far sophomore Dylan Thompson has filled in nicely (Thompson is 26 of 50 for 507 yards and 5 passing touchdowns and Shaw is 15 of 25 for 174 and 1 passing touchdown). However, both of Thompson’s standout performances came against two Conference USA teams after he struggled against Vanderbilt, an SEC opponent. The struggles may have been from lack of confidence and an unexpected role in the season opener. Marcus Lattimore is having a strong start to the season with 235 yards on 48 carries, and has 4 touchdowns on the season. His only game with over a 100 yards and more than one touchdown was against Vanderbilt, this may be because of the difference in the defenses or the difference in the quarterback play. Missouri has a 2 and 1 record (0-1 in the SEC) and is currently unranked. The Tigers have scored a total of 14 touchdowns but have allowed 9 TDs. Missouri’s only loss to Georgia was an interesting game because the Tigers hung around with the Bulldogs through three quarters, Georgia had a 24-20 lead at the end of the third and then pulled away in the fourth by scoring 17 unanswered points to win 41-20.
