Looking Back At USC-UGA Last Year

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The sixth ranked South Carolina Gamecocks take on the fifth ranked Georgia Bulldogs in a premier top ten match-up and a major SEC showdown. Let’s take a look back at last years exciting match-up. South Carolina The match-up last year was earlier in the season, week 2, and the Gamecocks pulled out the 45-42 win in an exciting fashion. Stephen Garcia was the quarter back for USC last season for the game and he threw for 142 and 1 touchdown on 11 of 25 passing, he also threw 2 interceptions. Marcus Lattimore rushed for 178 yards and 1 TD on 27 carries. Garcia added a rushing touchdown. The play of the game 68-yard touchdown rush from defensive end Melvin Ingram on a punt fake. Ingram also had a defensive touchdown after then freshman Jadeveon Clowney forced an Aaron Murray fumble. This year Connor Shaw is in at quarterback and overall seems to play at a more consistent level than Garcia had played in the past. Georgia Quarterback Aaron Murray threw for 248 yards and 4 touchdowns on 19 of 29 attempts. Then freshman running back Isaiah Crowell beat down the USC defense on the ground for 118 yards and 1 TD on just 16 carries. UGA now has two freshman running backs that are making dawg fans forget that Crowell was supposed to missed from this year’s team. Todd Gurley is currently leading the SEC in rushing and last week wasn’t even the leading rusher on the team; that was fellow freshman tail back Keith Marshall. This year’s match-up seems like it will be just as exciting from the way both offenses are playing and the capabilities of both defenses as well; and the match-up this year may have even more national prominence at seasons end than last years game.
