Lattimore Drafted By San Francisco 49ers

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Former Gamecock running back Marcus Lattimore was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was the 131st selection overall. Lattimore was projected to be a first round draft pick before he suffered a serious knee injury in 2012. He dislocated his right knee cap and tore three ligaments in a game six months ago. Lattimore had successful surgery in November and decided to forgo his senior season to enter the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent the following months rehabbing in Florida. Dr. James Andrews, who operated on Lattimore, told NFL teams at the NFL Scounting Combine that he was ahead of schedule on his recovery and was one of the hardest workers he’d seen. “He keeps saying I’m going to shock the world,” Lattimore said. Lattimore did a lot in his three years at South Carolina. He had 2,677 career rushing yards, which is sixth in school history. His 41 total touchdowns and 38 rushing touchdowns are both school records.
