Sanders Drafted By Jacksonville Jaguars

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Former Gamecock receiver Ace Sanders was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Sanders was the No. 101 pick overall. In his three years at South Carolina, Sanders had 53 punt returns for a 11.2-yard average and three touchdowns for Gamecocks. He recorded seasons of 25, 29 and 45 catches. “His quickness is electric,” Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said. “This guy has serious juice to get off the mark and to separate in a short area. The time speed is what it is, but this is a guy who can get behind defenders and run away from defenders in the SEC.” Said Sanders: “I attack [the coverage team] with the first step and I‘m going north-south. I‘m not an east-west runner – I get the yards that‘s needed and I really just try to flip the field and just give the offense better field position. I‘ll go at it relentlessly with no fear and just try to make a play.” Sanders was watching draft from his family‘s home in Bradenton.
