Gamecocks Notch New 2014 Commitment

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO ) — Summerville defensive back Darin Smalls committed to the Gamecocks on Saturday. South Carolina offered a scholarship to Smalls in December. He was planning to wait until signing day to make an official announcement, but decided to pledge to USC while attending a seven-on-seven tournament in Columbia. Smalls is a consensus three-star prospect and is considered to be the top defensive back in the state of South Carolina. He had offers from Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida State, NC State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Louisville, and Oklahoma.
