Malzahn’s looks for triumphant return to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Auburn hopes to continue its season of reemergence and earn first-year coach Gus Malzahn a win in his return to his native state of Arkansas this weekend. The No. 8 Tigers (7-1, 3-1 Southeastern Conference), who were 3-9 last season, have won four games in a row since suffering their only loss of the season — a 35-21 setback at LSU on Sept. 21. While Auburn has experienced immediate success under its first-year coach, formerly an offensive coordinator for one season with the Razorbacks, Arkansas has struggled in its first year under coach Bret Bielema. The Razorbacks (3-5, 0-4) have lost five straight, the longest skid of Bielema’s head coaching career, and they have lost their last two games — to South Carolina and Alabama by a combined 104-7.
