Coastal Carolina beats South Carolina State, 41-14
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Alex Ross threw for 195 yard and 2 touchdowns and De’Angelo Henderson added 136 yards on the ground to help lead Coastal Carolina to a 41-14 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday.
Both Ross and Henderson set school records in the game. Ross’ 54th career touchdown pass broke a tie at 53 with Tyler Thigpen while Henderson passed Aundres Perkins previous career rushing mark of 2,343 yards.
John Israel, who caught both of Ross’ TD passes, finished with six catches for 87 yards.
The Chanticleers (2-0) held a 32-0 lead at halftime while holding South Carolina State to just 69 first half yards.
The Bulldogs (1-1) finally scored late in the third when Caleb York found Tamarrick Hemmingway from seven yards out, capping a seven play, 73-yard drive.
The Chanticleers now own a 5-0 advantage in the series and are now 21-1 all-time against MEAC foes.
