Authorities Say Lancaster Man Died Playing Russian Roulette
LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) _ Lancaster County authorities say a 22-year-old man found dead in his truck accidentally killed himself while playing Russian roulette.
Local media outlets report authorities had been investigating the death of Brandon Reese of Lancaster as a homicide.
But the sheriff’s office said Friday the investigation determined Reese shot himself while trying to buy a gun.
According to the sheriff’s report, Reese and two others drove to a trailer park to get a gun, and the revolver’s owner told Reese he could take it if he successfully played Russian roulette. The gun fired the second time Reese pulled the trigger.
The sheriff’s office says the people with Reese drove to a hospital but got scared and kept going, abandoning Reese and the truck where deputies found him Jan. 12.
