Man Accused of Impersonating Officer Faces More Charges
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A 23-year-old security officer accused of pretending to be a state agent faces more charges.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that 23-year-old Zackery Hoy Sivils of Summerville was arrested late last week on three counts of impersonating and officer and two counts of kidnapping.
Berkeley County sheriff’s deputies say Sivils pretended to be a State Law Enforcement Division agent and stopped a car for a tag light violation Feb. 15.
An incident report said a pistol Sivils had and another badge were taken as evidence. The SUV he was driving had blue lights and was also impounded.
Warrants on the latest charges say there were similar incidents between October and December.
Defense attorney David Brown says Sivils had a passion for law enforcement.
