Bluffton Man Charged with Murder in Hilton Head Slaying
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — A Bluffton man is charged with murder in the shooting death last month of a man on Hilton Head Island.
Local media outlets report that 53-year-old Allen Haynes was also charged Monday with possession of a gun during a violent crime.
The charges stem from the Feb. 18 shooting death of 44-year-old Darnell Williams who was shot in the parking lot where the ferry leaves the island for Haig Point on Daufuskie Island.
Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office say both men worked at Haig Point. They are still investigating a motive for the shooting. The gun has not been recovered.
It was not immediately known if Haynes had an attorney.
