Girl, 5, Pulled from Weekend Fire Dies of Injuries

HONEA PATH, S.C. (AP) — A 5-year-old girl who was pulled from a burning house in Honea Path over the weekend has died from her injuries.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore tells local media outlets that Sophia Rhodes died Monday night at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia.
She was pulled out of her burning home about 10:30 on Sunday night suffering smoke inhalation but was resuscitated at the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

Two adults and seven children ages 16 and younger were in the home when the fire started. No one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
