Gamecock Football Chaplain Out of a Job

Gamecocks logo hi-resCOLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – A spokesperson for the University of South Carolina’s athletics department tells ABC Columbia News that the chaplain was let go by head football coach Will Muschamp.

Adrian Despres was let go after spending the past 17 seasons as the chaplain for the team.

University officials say the move was based on how Muschamp likes run things.

Athletics Department spokesperson, Steve Fink said in a statement, “Adrian was not retained because Coach Muschamp’s philosophy is to have not just one voice, but multiple voices available to assist with the spiritual development of student-athletes.”
