Eyes in the sky: Myrtle Beach’s 800 cameras nearly installed
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) _ A project to add 800 surveillance cameras in Myrtle Beach is almost complete.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that only two cameras remains to be installed before the $2 million project is finished. They should be operating in the next couple of weeks.
The cameras have been installed at intersections, along streets and on paths to the beach. They allow police to quickly respond to traffic accidents or crimes.
Installing the cameras was to have been completed by the end of last year. But there were delays because of connectivity issues, bad weather and getting permits to install the cameras on some of the city’s busiest intersections.
