SC Firefighter Killed After Trying to Jump on Truck
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) – A report from state troopers says a Conway firefighter who died last month had tried to jump on a fire truck.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol’s incident report said 42-year-old Christopher Ray of Green Sea slipped as he tried to leap on the truck as it backed up at about 5 mph at a fire March 20.
The report says after slipping, Ray became tangled in the fire hose and the truck backed over him. The 6-year-veteran of the Conway Fire Department died at the scene.
Troopers say no charges will be filed against the driver of the fire truck.
