Slager Trial in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – An expert says no DNA of white police officer was found on the fingernails of a black South Carolina motorist shot and killed will fleeing a traffic stop.

Samuel Stewart of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division testified Thursday during the murder trial of former North Charleston patrolman Michael Slager who is charged in the April, 2015 shooting death of Walter Scott.

The defense contends the two men struggled over the officer’s stun gun before Scott was shot in the back.
