Students Unhurt After School Bus Overturns in NC
BELMONT, N.C. (WSOC) – Emergency crews responded to an overturned school bus in Gaston County early Tuesday morning.
Officials told Channel 9 that the bus crashed on Lake Wylie Road, off South New Hope Road, in Belmont around 6:45 a.m.
State troopers were investigating the wreck and officials with Gaston County Schools said there were four students onboard, as well as the driver, and that none of them were hurt.
The bus was headed to New Hope Elementary School and troopers said wet roads contributed to the crash, which happened at a curve in the road.
The students had to exit the bus through the rear emergency exit.
It is still unclear exactly what caused the crash but troopers told Channel 9 that charges would likely be filed against the driver of the bus.
