Man Charged After 24 Deceased Animals Taken from Richland Co. Home
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A Richland County man has been charged with 24 counts of ill treatment of animals after over 20 deceased reptiles and a dog were found inside his abandoned home.
During an eviction notice search of Kurt Hafner’s Meredith Square home on April 10, deputies say 24 deceased deceased animals were found.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators along with snake experts from All Things Wild were called to the residence and found turtles, bearded dragons, lizards, and various snakes, authorities say.
Investigators say they also discovered that Hafner had abandoned in his residence since February leaving the animals without food and water.
