Brutal attack of actor being investigated as possible hate crime

Chicago (ABC NEWS) — Police say Jussie Smollet reported being attacked while walking in Chicago around 2AM Tuesday. The actor told police the two men yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him before pouring an unknown chemical on him and putting a rope around his neck.

Authorities say they now have a dozen local police officers and members of the FBI looking for surveillance as they investigate the incident as a possible hate crime.

ABC’s Steve Osunsami reports.
