Consumer News: Mortgage rates falling and more Americans have no plan to retire from working

CNN– Mortgage rates continue to fall. The mortgage rate for 30 year mortgages fell over the past week, for the third straight week staying below 3%. Right now, the average interest rate on a 30 year mortgage is 2.98%, according to Freddie Mac. The continued lower rates are good news for home buyers.

It looks like the golden years will still include a job for many older Americans. According to a new survey, many have no plans to retire. Reverse mortgage lender, American Advisors Group, reached out to over 1,500 people between the ages of 60-75. 46% said they plan to work at least part-time during their retirement. 12% said they are working full time and have no plans to stop.

ABC NEWS– Speaking of jobs, Friday afternoon President Joe Biden met with his Cabinet to discuss the recent jobs report. 266,000 jobs added, a fraction of the one million new hires expected. ABC’s Alex Presha has more.
