Father arrested accused of homicide by child abuse

Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 26 year old Karlton Brabham, Sr. after they say he is accused of homicide by child abuse.

Authorities say Brabham and another member of the family brought the 6 year old to the MedCare along Two Notch Road. Officials say the little boy was unresponsive when he arrived and was rushed to Palmetto Health Richland where the child was pronounced dead.

The Richland County Coroner, Gary Watts and the Richland Sheriff’s Department were alerted of the young boy’s death who determined the death was non accidental. According to Deputies, the child died as a result of  a traumatic injury to the brain after authorities say they he was assaulted by Brabham inside an Elgin home.

Brabham is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is awaiting bond.
