Watch: Search Continues for Missing Sumter Boater
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Natural Resources continue to search for a missing boater on the Pocotaligo River in Sumter County.
Officials say 61-year old Harry Lee Bradley was dropped off at the river by friends around noon on Saturday to go fishing and when they returned Saturday afternoon to pick him up he was not there. Family members reported Bradley missing on Sunday morning. Ken Bell, with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department, says the Sheriff’s office sent deputies to search the scene and Sunday afternoon DNR recovered Bradley’s boat with several of his personal belongings inside but no sign of Bradley.
Family members tell ABC Columbia Bradley knew the area very well and is an experienced fisherman.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s office says the search is now a recovery search. They will continue searching the area twice a day. No foul play is suspected at this time.
