Election Results

There will be a run-off in two weeks, on April 20th to decide the next mayor of Columbia between Steve Benjamin and Kirkman Finley. Here are the results: Steve Benjamin, 36% vote, Kirkman Finlay picked up 32%, Steve Morrison with 30%, Aaron Johnson, Joseph Azar both picked up a little more than one percent, and Sparkle Clark and Nammu Muhammad both received less than one percent each. Columbia’s race for mayor was not the only election today that will end in a run-off. City Council District Four was also a close one between the top two candidates, Leona Plaugh received just over 32% of the vote and Tony Mizzell received a little more than 31% of the vote. There was less than 50 votes separating the two candidates. Their run-off will also be on April 20th. Kevin Fisher received just under 21 percent of the vote. Walter Powell Jr. and Mary Baskin Waters both received less than ten percent of the votes. The at-large race was also held Tuesday and there will be, no run-off as Tameika Issac Devine was declared the winner with 57% of the vote and her challenger Grant Robertson received just under 42% of the vote.
