Braves Caravan Comes To Columbia

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — The new face of the Atlanta Braves came to Columbia Tuesday afternoon hoping to put smiles on the faces of others.  New manager Fredi Gonzalez and the Braves Caravan rolled into Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. The group gave out hats and stickers and signed autographs while visiting patients’ rooms. Relief pitcher Johnny Venters headlined a small group of players who made the 3-hour trip up I-20.

Gonzalez says he’s honored to be taking Bobby Cox’s place in the dugout. The former Marlins skipper thinks last year’s playoff run was a valuable experience for a relatively young team that will help this year’s club compete.
