Three arrested in Camden murder

CAMDEN, S.C. (WOLO) — Three people have been arrested in connection with what investigators are saying was an home invasion and murder Monday night. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews released a statement, saying 23-year-old Terrance Singleton, III; 20-year-old Curtis Drakeford; and 34-year-old Jerome Lewis were arrested. They all face various charges of murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and weapons charges. Investigators say these three men broke into a home on Sandspur Road in Camden at 11:15 p.m. Monday. In the process, deputies say the three shot and killed homeowner Michael Hayes and kidnapped his girlfriend and 5-day-old infant. The men are suspected of robbing the homeowners as well. “This crime spree has been resolved quickly due in large part to the cooperation with SLED and the Camden Police Department,” said Sheriff Matthews. “Getting these men off the streets quickly was a top priority. We could not have done this without the help of all agencies involved.” The investigation continues into whether these three men were also involved in other home invasions and robberies that took place last week.
