Florence mom arrested after baby drowns in bathtub

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 27-year-old Florence mother has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after she fell asleep with her 5-month-old daughter in the bathtub and the baby drowned. Deputies said Thursday in a press release that Raquel Coker had been drinking and using drugs before she put her baby in the tub on April 17. Investigators say when Coker woke up, she discovered the baby had drowned. Coker is awaiting a bond hearing. It wasn’t immediately clear if she had an attorney.
