Haley: Congressional pressure good in Boeing fight
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Gov. Nikki Haley hopes pressure from South Carolina’s congressional delegation will show President Barack Obama the state is serious about protecting its employers.
Haley told reporters Thursday she’s pleased that the state’s members of Congress are speaking out about a National Labor Relations Board lawsuit against Boeing over its South Carolina assembly line.
Haley is scheduled to testify Friday at a U.S. House committee hearing in North Charleston over the Boeing dispute. The federal board has sued the aircraft manufacturer, accusing Boeing of breaking the law when it built a non-union 787 passenger jet production line in North Charleston instead of Washington state.
The board says that decision was made to retaliate against unionized Washington state workers. An administrative judge in Seattle began considering the case this week.
