Anderson security guard dies in morning crash

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an Anderson security guard killed after he lost control of his Jeep may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

Investigators say 67-year-old Marshall Chastain of Williamston was making his rounds at the First Quality Tissue plant at about 4 a.m. Thursday when he lost control of his Jeep, hit fence and then a building. The wreck wasn’t found until about three hours later.

Coroner Don McCown says Chastain died on impact from injuries to his head and chest. McCown says Chastain’s diabetes may have caused him to lose control of the Jeep.

Authorities say Chastain wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
