3,500-pound Citadel ring to adorn parade ground

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — It’s a very big piece of bling. The Citadel in Charleston plans to place a 3,500-pound replica of the cadet ring on the campus parade ground.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported the monument will be unveiled this fall. It’s a 6-foot by 8-foot brass replica of the college’s cadet ring being forged by a foundry in Texas.

The ring will join 14 other monuments of various kinds on the parade ground. Some of those other monuments include a Sherman tank and a Cobra helicopter.
