NC-based Marines getting R&R in South Carolina

EASLEY, S.C. (AP) — Some U.S soldiers based in North Carolina are getting a little rest and relaxation in South Carolina this week. Marines with the Marine Special Operations Command at Camp Lejeune, N.C., arrived Monday afternoon in Easley to begin a motorcade to Seneca before spending time at the Keowee Key community. Event organizer Tim Callahan says he’s glad to host the Marines for some well-deserved rest. On Tuesday, the city of Seneca is hosting a veterans’ appreciation evening for the public to meet the Marines and enjoy food, music and fireworks. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press.
