North Myrtle Beach expands across waterway

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — The city of North Myrtle Beach is expanding west of the Intracoastal Waterway, bringing in almost 2,000 additional acres to the municipality.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that city council gave unanimous approval Monday to the expansion. The annexation includes almost 1,500 acres zoned for residential and commercial units.

The city is also purchasing about 150 acres for a sports tourism facility that could open within two years.
