Walker To Play Despite Wrist Fracture

OMAHA, NE (WOLO) — It will take more than a broken wrist to keep USC’s leading hitter out of the lineup in the national championship series. South Carolina sophomore first baseman Christian Walker will hit in his customary third spot in the lineup for the Gamecocks in Monday night’s first game of the national championship series against Florida. X-rays confirmed a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist. The injury occurred in Walker’s last at-bat in USC’s last game–Friday against Virginia. Walker took batting practice with his wrist taped Monday evening. He hit a home run on his first swing. Walker leads Carolina in virtually every major hitting category.
