SC billionaire’s Cadillac sells for $15,000

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Billionaire textile magnate Roger Milliken’s Cadillac was worth a little over $15,000 to the highest bidder at a charity auction.

United Way of the Piedmont did not name the winner on its website.

Milliken’s estate put his 2001 Cadillac DeVille up for sale to help the charity. The car has less than 20,000 miles on it. The family says Milliken only drove it to work at Milliken & Co. in Spartanburg and to the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, where he served as chairman.

The car included faux suede seats made with a material called preferred suede manufactured by Milliken & Co. The car also has bumper stickers that support conservation, including one that says “trees are the answer.”
