SC woman accused of killing bed-ridden husband

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Columbia woman has been charged with killing her quadruple-amputee husband with an overdose of pills.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Thursday that 68-year-old Carol Kring Ross has been charged with murder in the death of 69-year-old Larry Manning Ross.

Deputies were called to the couple’s home on May 4 and found Larry Ross unresponsive in the bed and Carol Ross missing.

Larry Ross was taken to the Veterans Administration Hospital where he died a week later.

Lott says investigators think Carol Ross gave her husband of 47 years an overdose of medicine, some of which had been prescribed for him and others for her.

Attorney Jack Swerling says the charges shocked Carol Ross, who turned herself in to deputies Thursday.
