Bicyclist dies after fall from Charleston bridge

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A man riding a bicycle has died after he was hit by a car and fell over a bridge in Charleston.

Police say the man was riding over the James Island Connector when he was hit by a van Tuesday morning. The man fell dozens of feet into the marsh below, while the bicycle and his helmet stayed on the bridge.

The van that struck the cyclist had damage to its hood and windshield.

Rescue boats are trying to recover the man’s body. His name has not been released.
