2-year-old SC girl safe after vehicle stolen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A 2-year-old Spartanburg girl has been found safe after the vehicle she was in was taken from a home in rural Richland County.

Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that investigators were lucky to find the girl safe after the vehicle was stolen from a home in Hopkins. Deputies are looking for two people who took the Jeep Saturday night.

Twenty-three-year-old Witney Reaves and her boyfriend had stopped by an aunt’s house to pick up a car and had left Caylie Morris in her car seat while they went to the front door.

Lott says two men took the vehicle, which was found about two hours later at Hopkins Elementary School.

The girl was not harmed.

The thieves also took $900 and a cell phone.
