Greenville County Crime Stoppers adds more tools
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Law enforcement in Greenville County is getting a few more tools to fight crime.
Crime Stoppers is holding a news conference Wednesday to announce it will take tips over text messages and have operators fluent in Spanish available for Spanish-speaking callers.
Crime Stoppers says any tips provided are anonymous. Anyone wanting to text in a crime tip can enter their message, along with “23Crime” to 274637.
Greenville County Crime Stoppers gives rewards to tips that pan out, and has paid out $200,000 since the program began in 1983. Authorities say the tips also have led to 1,700 arrests.
